Disproportionate response by select element of members
I've noticed a disturbing frustrating trend within this forum, that a small loyal and dedicated 'intelligent' element are essentially maintaining the existence of this forum without little or no input by the majority of members.
Whilst I understand people have varied lifestyles and time engulfing responsibilities (like myself, and many others here), I also recognize many people are just lazily logging on and merely observing, without actively participating.
Some may cite shyness and bashfulness for example, well, believe it or not I'm a rather bashful chap myself. The beauty and the luxurious anonymity that the internet affords, ensures any natural inhibitions are cancelled out by that reality.
Also, one of the most important rights of people "freedom of speech" is upheld and enforced here, something to which so many people are unable to do/express within their own restrictive lives. The point being, if people are frightened, or (socially) constrained from voicing their righteous concerns here, then the valid concerns in their real lives are surely consigned to the outer limits of politically correct banality.
The point is, use your freedom to make your voice heard. You'll be pleasantly surprised by the response, and it will invigorate and reinforce qualities within yourself that you've previously questioned so harshly.
So, go on, make a post, we'd be more than happy to hear "your voice."The wicked flee when none pursueth. Proverbs 28:1
'Rise like Lions after slumber In unvanquishable number - Shake your chains to earth like dew Which in sleep had fallen on you - Ye are many - they are few.'

Re: Disproportionate response by select element of members
Spot on, CD... lurking seems rather a handy passtime we could all engage in. But some of us need to shovel a little gravel now n then. I've not been posting as often, or rather, my posts aren't as original as they were once were. But I excuse myself with reasons you & a good few others know about plus the time 'under the hood' I engage in.

Wife : "I dreamt they were auctioning off dicks. The big ones went for ten dollars and the thick ones went for twenty dollars."
Husband : "How about the ones like mine?"
Wife : "Those they gave away."
Husband : "I had a dream too...I dreamt they were auctioning off pussy. The pretty ones went for a thousand dollars, and the little tight ones went for two thousand."
Wife : "And how much for the ones like mine?"
Husband : "That's where they held the auction."

Yes, its good to spend a bit of time working on the clitoris, If I recall my sex education lessons.. (Actually, I never had any, but I did watch Monty Pythons meaning of life.. and worked on a farm for a few years..)..
Seriously though folks, I have never personally been of the belief that "its good to talk", but it would be nice to hear a few more voices from the shadows, especially if you agree with everything I say, which is, of course, always 100% correct..
I went on masculist mans forum recently, I had a look round and while I did not post, I was "lurking" with a sense of awe at the bravery and intelligence in some of the posts on there..
I think many folk who are lurking, are actually really impressed with the site, but dont know what to say..
So, I suggest, just come and tell us how super we all are..
Then, we will be nice to you, until you start to get annoying and then we will spank you with a tennis bat..

Isn't it the same on all boards CD? Lurkers vastly outnumber articulate posters on every site. That's the (cyber) world we live in.I've noticed a disturbing frustrating trend within this forum, that a small loyal and dedicated 'intelligent' element are essentially maintaining the existence of this forum without little or no input by the majority of members.
When AM was a little Gentleman's Club, we didn't mind too much. Thanks to Marx's efforts we've grown - but the pattern remains the same.
We're not an army. We're an information wing that shines the light of truth on ignorance and lies.
Many a true word is spoken in jest Drex. Attitudes change ever so slowly. AM is doing its bit. It may not provoke an overnight revolution but it's still effective.I think many folk who are lurking, are actually really impressed with the site, but dont know what to say..

Of course you are, Drex. Except when you disagree with me...
Link?I went on masculist mans forum recently, I had a look round and while I did not post, I was "lurking" with a sense of awe at the bravery and intelligence in some of the posts on there..
Joking aside, I think you have a point. Some people are maybe just here to learn?I think many folk who are lurking, are actually really impressed with the site, but dont know what to say..
BTW, do you mean a tennis racket?

Re: Disproportionate response by select element of members
Indeed, I believe the increased participation of members - ensures a forum retains a democratic platform of freedom of speech, as opposed to a propaganda platform!
The natural input of increased members ensures a natural equilibrium of righteousness.
It's ironic how the most reluctant element of our membership, can actually prove to be the most influential? The wicked flee when none pursueth. Proverbs 28:1

Re: Disproportionate response by select element of members
I've very much have always being a lurker, so to speak, even when I'm active, you'd be lucky to see more than 5 posts from me in one day on any forum, not just here.
I'm just more interesting in coming in, having a look around, if nothing interests me, I don't post and leave, if something does interest me however, I'm likely to post and often make a longish post at that as well.
That's just me, though.

Re: Disproportionate response by select element of members
Aye..
When i go on a forum, I go on with an intention.. Often I come in with a big display of intent, and see what reaction I get.. But, If I go on simply to find out a few things, I may be forced to register etc.. that may make me seem like a lurker, but I am only going on "for a sniff around" I dont really want to be part of the forum other than that..
Some forums are "activists forums", and they exist to provide information etc to activists, they are often closed to the public and hopefully provide info on demo's etc..
In the case of groups like f4j, and real f4j, they often ban the same folk who actually take part in activism on the ground because they dont want these people upsetting the feminists they crawl to..
These forums are not open to the public, are pay to view and are basically crap.. preaching to the converted, mangina dominated and impotent..
This is the only forum I post on currently, because the others have either banned me, or its hard to know what to post because basically, I read posts on say, antifeminist empire, or masculistmans forum, and you cant really say anything other than.. "yes, thats what i think too".. Or, perhaps, "is that not maybe a little harsh?".. hardly worth it.. I dont want to affect the flow there with my irreverent sense of humour..
I like to hear it from the horses mouth as it where. I have never been a big fan of folk speaking on behalf of others.. It distorts the truth.. Creates an unreality.. When I go on the few forums that celebrate 6th December (marc lepine day) I like to note that they provide the textual commentary written by marc lepine himself..
I note that the established groups dont want to provide the commentary, or let the public know, of what the leading activists think.. To the extent of banning the same fellows that bring them their members..
The cut and paste merchants who trade in passing the same info round and round, well, thats all well and good, but its of limited interest to me, unless the person who passes it round has validated it and made his/her own commentary on it too..
Getting the real life, honest views and opinions of forum members is to me the greatest asset that a forum can have to enhance its validity..
It would be great to see some of the lurkers come forward with a few words, or a lot of words..
Even if they dont agree, or just to say, "yes, I think the same"..
There is a wealth of info on here, and no doubt lurkers have a lot to read..
But, they dont need to read it all.. or even any of it..
Come forward, we are a friendly bunch, and maybe we can direct you towards areas of interest for you..
Well, Not me, because I dont know where anything is really!
I have a hard job finding my own posts!
But, I am sure marx can go without sleep for 30 hours daily!
