There's a difference between being a slave to something and desiring it. I desire it, sure, but that doesn't mean that I would die for it, fight for it, kill for it, you know - that would make me a slave to it. At least that's how I see it. And I am a man. Hope that answers your first question.

Being a man means not being a slave to anything or anyone.

To behave in a manner that allows for meeting one's needs, this is vastly more beneficial - and manly - than going after one's wants.

It wasn't homophobic, it wasn't an insult and it wasn't a joke. Stating that a man does not desire pussy, doesn't necessarily imply he automatically prefers a penis, but as our sexes are divided into only two groups and as the vast majority of people do have sexual urges in one or the other (and occasionally both) it's fair to assume that finding one to be undesirable equates a preference for the other. In short, if a man doesn't want pussy - he may just want dick. That's not insulting, homophobic nor mockery. Just plan observation.
Now, if I were to direct such a comment at you personally, knowing that realistically you'd likely give preference to pussy, then yes, I would agree it is mockery & it could easily become offensive too, perception on homosexuality dependant. It was a worthy effort though, 10pts for trying.

This is getting a bit messy and some double standards are creeping in.
So I'll start with a disclaimer that the following comments are merely speculative and I will not defend them to the death.

In the Phils most people would see sex as a basic need rather than as a 'desire'. It applies to both genders, seeking pussy and having babies are both regarded as needs. Which is probably why we don't have any trouble with falling birthrates.

We could quibble about the distiction between need and desire or just say that desire is the driving force that helps us fulfil our needs..... or we could leave that for another day.

My previous off the cuff answers were based on the notion that the more we minimise our needs, the simpler life gets. But if we didn't have needs/desires we wouldn't do much with our lives.

Is a serious case of the pot calling the kettle black. Unless of course by 'dangerous situations' you mean western marriages, then I'd be inclined to agree.

I once was a slave to my desires but grew out of it.
I have been married for 18 years today. Over 19 years with this same woman.

I really don't have much of those desires anymore and this creates questions with my wife. She is finally learned to accept it.

The irony in this is when I had strong desires my wife didn't care much about sex. She claimed she did it with me for my sake and now she appears to have to do without more than she would like.
Maybe there was a lack of honesty on her part in the beginning.
