If folks would just work on their marriages and if things like shared parenting were a near sure thing then people would be doing better.

Right now, for many younger folks, it is all what's in it for me and why should I work on my partner relationships I will just dump him or her.

See? Me first as opposed to sacrificing for a life with those important to you. It encourages all the nasty winner take all divorces out there. Exactly why is it good for society to have someone "win" a divorce?

Not exactly the point of this thread. We are talking about the "children first" ideology, not the "me first" ideology.

I don't think you can separate the two, fundamentally.

Yes you can. You have to understand that the "children first" ideology can and eventually will turn against women too which makes it it's own beast.
