    Bush cuts VAWA budget

Feminists are vexed because President Bush has slashed the VAWA budget for FY 09.

On the web site of NNEDF (National Network to End Domestic Violence) they are whining like stuck sows. Way to go Bush!

"The Fiscal Year (FY) '08 budget passed by Congress in December 2007 included staggering cuts to the Victims of Crime Act Fund (VOCA). The President also recently announced his FY '09 budget, which would be devastating for victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, dating violence and stalking."

It is written only, how much is the cut...totally reduced for about 40 million USD.

But how much was the VAWA budget? And how much will it be in future?

The cut for sure is totally justified, the money should be used for men too, if they have problems, but I wonder how much was used for men.

Feminists are telling everybody, VAWA is gender-neutral, isn't it?

Good to see that money is getting short for such purposes...feminism is a parasite, non productive and does not deserve such a budget out of public money.

There are plenty of women, who are rich in the USA...They should give money for VAWA etc...up to feminists to approach them and asking for donations.

They forgot to add the word "female" victims, because males are not supported.

Advocates urge Congress to protect funding for life-saving services

WASHINGTON, Feb. 5 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Domestic violence advocates are outraged by President Bushs Budget Request for Fiscal Year 2009, saying the measure deals a devastating blow to women and children. The Budget Request released yesterday proposes cutting $120 million from life-saving domestic violence services created by the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA).

We are appalled to see the President proposing such devastating cuts to vital programs that save American lives, said Sue Else, President of the National Network to End Domestic Violence (NNEDV). VAWA has been proven to save millions of lives and over $15 billion in health care, law enforcement, other social costs. It is fiscally irresponsible to propose such cuts and it turns a blind eye to the most vulnerable citizens of our country.

In addition to cutting VAWA funding by one-third, the Presidents plan eliminates the $2 billion balance in the Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) Fund, a non-taxpayer funded resource serving over 3 million crime victims each year. The VOCA Fund has made it possible for domestic violence, sexual assault and child abuse victims to receive critical support. It also has been used to provide counseling services to victims of terrorism and mass violence, including $68.1 million to support the victims of the September 11 terrorism attacks.

The VOCA Fund is not funded by taxpayer dollars. It is funded through fines and penalties collected from convicted criminals, explained Else. Abolishing the VOCA Fund is an insult and injustice to battered women and victims of crime across the country.

The Presidents disturbing budget cuts come on the heels of NNEDVs release of the National Census of Domestic Violence Services (NCDVS). According to the census, in just one day, domestic violence programs did not have the resources to meet 7,707 requests for emergency shelter, legal assistance or other advocacy services. When the resources do not exist for victims to receive domestic violence services, victims are left with no choice but to return to their abusers.

The more resources and advocacy that victims receive, the better chance they have of breaking the cycle of violence. Cuts in funding cost lives, explained a domestic violence program in Missouri.

VAWA changed the landscape for victims who suffered in silence, added Else. However, if the Presidents budget cuts remain, victims will not have a place to turn for help and innocent lives will be lost. We urge Congress to restore VAWA funding and increase it to levels that will protect victims of domestic violence.

I noticed on the NNEDV web site that one of their programs is funded by Allstate Insurance.

If any of you MEN have Allstate Insurance cancel it, tell them why, and switch to an insurance company that doesn't hate men.

It might have expired, but a bunch of manginas posing as "MRAs" such as "RADAR" supported renewal and extension of VAWA. It allowed the Congress to claim that VAWA is supported by Men's Activist groups. We MEN need "I'm a victim too" milquetoasts like a bicycle needs a fish. All they accomplish is to promote and extend the victories of feminism.

The entire VAWA is a hate men program.

Here's their web site. They claim to be men's activists, but what they end up doing is "me too" feminism.

    Celtish and Rage.

Celtish, I am astonished that such a fine MRA and warrior hasn't heard of RADAR. You and every other MRA ought to be recieving their regular newsletter updates. They are the single MOST effective Men's Rights Organisasion going. They have done more for publicising the bias, mendacity and downright lies in the media that anyone else.

RADAR is an MRA battalion strength armoured formation with long-range guns.

Rage, get your friggin' nappy changed. Just who's side are you on?
