"gender studies".. pfft!!
Still, I keep an open mind..
Even when we all know gender studies is all about blaming men for everything..
Dating is a dumb game, played to womens rules usually, that makes monkeys of men..
And profits for those who know encouraging relationship breakdown and "dating" keeps the money flowing to the females, in so many ways..
And even if the men are not paying for dates, they are usually travelling there, paying for the durex, etc..I started out an optimist, but nothing turned out right..
Then I became a pessimist, but thats a life of shite..
I sucked at being a realist, 'cos folks will always fight..
So now I'm saying "fuck this shit!" I'd rather sleep at night!!

Re: British Men: What do you think about dating women? Female porn director would like to hear.
I didn't know you could bag yourself a PhD simply by asking men what they think about dating women, and making pornographic films (BTW, do you need to be any good at that, or is it enough just to do it?)
Sounds a cushy number. I think I might go for a PhD myself by asking Chinese people what they think of corn flakes, and pleasuring myself in the intervals while I wait for their replies. Once the qualification is in the bag I can then swan around pretending to be cleverer than everyone else.Civilisation: man's greatest, and most unappreciated, gift to women

Re: British Men: What do you think about dating women? Female porn director would like to hear.
For clarity's sake here is the relevant section from my research information sheet which is used to give participants enough information so as to be able to make an informed decision to consent to taking part in the study:
"The aim of this study is to ask the question whether some of men's behaviour to women has been understood correctly as misogynistic (women hating). It is therefore important to know more about how men understand women on the subject of dating. This project will involve the interviewing of 30 men from dating related websites/groups in order to get a male perspective on this subject, over a six-month period. A further 10 female sex workers will also be interviewed for their interpretations of men's experiences of dating women as it is believed that men can find talking to a sex worker about emotions easier than perhaps talking to female friends of family. The project will be finished in approximately 18 months. The findings of this research will be published as a PhD paper on behalf of the researcher, Anna Arrowsmith who is a student of the Media, Film and Music School at the University of Sussex. Please note, it may also be subsequently published as part of a book by the researcher...
...Please be assured that anything you say during the interview and/or other correspondence will be kept anonymous and any reference to your words will be done under a pseudonym in any publication. In addition to this, no record of your name or contact details will be stored together in the same location as your transcript or documents relying on your transcript and your name will not be used during the recording of the interview by the researcher."
I am genuinely looking to include the voices of as many different types of men as possible to get an idea of how men perceive women to have power in dating relationships. I sincerely would like to talk to men from the men's rights movements in order that I include those too. As I say I am keeping an open mind.
I hope some of you will take the opportunity to have your voice heard outside of the men's rights environment. Personally, I think it is important to keep a line of dialogue open between differing factions of the gender debate.
Thanks, Anna

I agree with you Kelly that we shouldn't jump on people and make assumptions. Personally I consider lying, or even being very deceptive, to be highly offensive.

Why I've gone from porn to politics | Anna Arrowsmith | Comment is free | The ObserverAnna Arrowsmith is a feminist porn-director, former LibDem parliamentary candidate, and a Phd Student in gender and masculinities. But from what I have read in her most recent cif article, she does not know much about masculinities, or the porn industry.
...
Arrowsmith produces some myths of her own. ... She is falling into the feminist trap of only ever framing porn in terms of its relationship to women, and women as potential ‘victims’.
I could go on but I hope the point is made. If someone (male or female) comes here and says "I am a feminist" or "I believe feminism is correct in some ways" then they tend to get personal respect, at least, even if their views might be ridiculed and certainly challenged. But to come here trying to deceive people about who he is, deliberately making misleading statements (at best) shows why this person should never be allowed into politics and never be trusted by anyone: male or female, misandrist or anti-feminist.Twelve years later I have won many awards, including Indie Porn Pioneer at the international Feminist Porn Awards in Toronto and best director for two years in the UK.

I ... know my pro-sex feminist argument is based on sound principles and logic.____________________________________________

Jesus! Anyone with half a brain can see by her synopsis that it's just another evil male/poor woman thesis. As Marx pointed above as well as the part about prostitutes being used as interpreters!
You'd be better off getting your information from the good mangina project than a real MRA site. At lest then you can mold their "experiences" to fit your agenda anna.

Re: British Men: What do you think about dating women? Female porn director would like to hear.
I have never denied being a feminist, just said that I am not a second wave feminist and that my experiences as a porn director have shown me the prejudice that some types of feminism can produce. I am third wave/post-feminist, I trust you know the difference? The difference is that we are not anti men or anti sex, big differences.
I think it is a shame that none of you are willing to be heard in this research and that you have pre-judiced what it is I am trying to do. Please bear in mind, if you wont engage in debate around the subject of gender equality, you wont be included, how can you be? How will anyone outside of the men's rights groups websites ever hear your opinions?
Anyway, I tried to engage you, I will now leave you to your own thoughts on my research. All I can say is you have got what I am doing completely wrong. The title of my work is: 'Rethinking Misogyny: How Men Perceive Female Power on the Subject of Dating' Surely someone here has something to add to the debate beyond a few sentences on this site?

Re: British Men: What do you think about dating women? Female porn director would like to hear.
It doesn't matter if you're a Seventh Day Adventist; your credentials speak for you.I am third wave/post-feminist, I trust you know the difference? The difference is that we are not anti men or anti sex, big differences.
A statement like that shows you've not listened to men much. Please bear in mind, if you wont engage in debate around the subject of gender equality, you wont be included, how can you be? How will anyone outside of the men's rights groups websites ever hear your opinions?
First, there's no such thing as 'equality'. As an academic you might know something about communism, where some are more equal than others. You would also know that "gender equality" is the biggest scam ever perpetrated whereby women get a host of new social and legal priveleges without giving up any of the old ones that they enjoyed under the former system of male peonage known as 'the patriarchy'.
Second, in answer to your question; This is the 21st century and there are thousands of ways of getting opinions heard. In many channels such as the western media, which is dominated by a feminist world-view, opinions may be blocked or censored. But men are getting smarter.
Third, why entrust opinions and personal experiences to avowed feminist who, (recent history teaches us) will distort and mould them to suit her own agenda?
Finally, I have broken my self-imposed prohibition against arguing with a feminist, even one that believes in the "Second Coming". I will do penance.

Re: Men and dating
While I do have a massively healthy cynicism about anything that smells of feminism, politics, and "dating protocols" I do also possess a strong masochistic streak that would have me nailed to the cross as our saviour.. In the hope that someday this sacrifice would be appreciated..
So, Anna, maybe I will take you up on this..
Quite simply though, in the world of especially "internet dating", men have a very hard time indeed, for reasons that are best explained when one notes that women only actually have a desire for mr perfect..
And sadly, I am overworked these days, too many women, not enough time!
As I have often said yan yan.. Better a honest feminist, than a dishonest friend of the mens movement who seeks to turn men into feminised drones who only exist to serve women..
They might both have the same aim, but at least the honest one makes it clear!
Women use sex to manipulate men.. Often by withdrawing it, but when that fails, by offerring it..
And when no man wants it anymore..
Boo hoo ladies!!I started out an optimist, but nothing turned out right..
Then I became a pessimist, but thats a life of shite..
I sucked at being a realist, 'cos folks will always fight..
So now I'm saying "fuck this shit!" I'd rather sleep at night!!

Re: British Men: What do you think about dating women? Female porn director would like to hear.
How would any kind of feminist know anything about gender equality? Please bear in mind, if you wont engage in debate around the subject of gender equality, you wont be included, how can you be? How will anyone outside of the men's rights groups websites ever hear your opinions?
Doesn't matter which wave.
The above quote looks like the usual type of attempted shaming behaviour, usually perfomed by feminist's or their supporter's to manipulate people into giving them what they want.

Re: British Men: What do you think about dating women? Female porn director would like to hear.
She makes a valid point. But I hate the term "gender".. Feminist concept to try and persuade the plebs that men and women are somehow moulded into their "gender" and not born with xx or xy..
In other words..
BLAH!!!I started out an optimist, but nothing turned out right..
Then I became a pessimist, but thats a life of shite..

Re: British Men: What do you think about dating women? Female porn director would like to hear.
We don't have to go through a feminist source for our opinions to be heard. Whether or not people agree is one thing but to be heard we simply need to promote our message. Plus, how do we know you wouldn't manipulate our message to say something that it didn't say?
Afterall, you did say you weren't a second wave feminist without initially admitting what type of feminist you were. You didn't actually lie, necessarily, but you didn't tell the whole story neither.
At least you don't pretend to be a supporter of men's rights, though. When I do this, and I know I will, it will be comparable to the lame learning to walk, the blind being enabled to see and the suffocated breathing again. The sky isn't the limit; there are no limits.
