I do not know of a man who could not identify with Arthur. He was an intellectual and imaginative Giant in whose shadow I, for one, could happily sit to read his words. And boy did he ever give us so many, many fine words. He died today aged 90, in Sri Lanka. The 20th Century will be remembered for a few key men. He is one of them. We will not miss you, Arthur. You resided in our hearts. You will stay stay there. You haven't gone anywhere. I have tried all my life to leave the place better than I found it. But there are 6 billion other buggers out there messing it up. I am outnumbered. But... YOU don't just make a difference, you make THE difference. ![]()

Wonderful tribute, Percy. Years ago I read 'The Hammer of God', along with a collection of his short stories. He was an amazing writer.
"I wanted you to see what real courage is, instead of getting the idea that courage is a man with a gun in his hand. It's when you know you're licked before you begin but you begin anyway and you see it through no matter what. You rarely win, but sometimes you do." - Harper Lee, To Kill a Mockingbird http://equalbutdifferent.blogspot.com/
