Ex-Leaf says publicity hurts his business affairs and ability to provide for family

While Tie Domi and his estranged wife, Leanne, continue bitter divorce proceedings, the former Toronto Maple Leaf star wants information about his finances sealed by the courts.
Amid accusations of overspending and a lack of cash flow, Tie Domi states in court documents he is concerned that continued publicity about the couple's divorce will hurt "ongoing business relationships" and his ability to provide for his family.
Since divorce papers were filed in court last year, Tie Domi claims he has lost endorsements and that the couple's debt is quickly growing.
The retired hockey player states he's bringing home $18,269 a month, about $5 short of the monthly mortgage payment on the "dream home" the couple built in Toronto, which has been sold. Domi also says the credit card used primarily by his wife of 13 years is maxed out at $100,000 and he doesn't have enough credit to cover the $52,093 in expenses that are automatically withdrawn monthly from his account.
"I simply do not have the funds to continue to pay for these expenses, given my drastically reduced cash flow and Leanne's increased spending," Domi states. He estimates that Leanne is spending about $75,000 a month, making unnecessary purchases like regular $150 haircuts for their 13- and 8-year-old daughters.
While Leanne and their three school-aged children remain in the family home until it closes the sale in two months, she claims in court documents that Domi rarely takes the children to stay with him. He says he wants to see his children as much as he can but until the sale of the home will not be able to find an appropriate place to live where the kids can be accommodated. Domi states he is now staying in a one-bedroom apartment, courtesy of a friend.
Domi also notes that he pays for a nanny and a lease on the nanny's car, but Leanne doesn't work and all three children are in school full-time.
Leanne said she still doesn't know where she and the children will live once they have to move out of their house. She states she does not believe her estranged husband is being upfront about his finances.
"I do not accept that Tie Domi is on the verge of insolvency or that the family is in a financial crisis," she states in an affidavit. She alleges Domi has not provided full financial disclosure or information about where he lives, "how he manages to drive his luxury cars, how he manages to be on luxury vacations or how he is reported to be seen in all the most expensive restaurants and stores."
Leanne filed for divorce in September, alleging Domi lied and cheated throughout their marriage. She named Liberal MP and Magna heiress Belinda Stronach as his current girlfriend. Domi has maintained they are only friends.
