I know not what the issue is with such a lengthy delay in responding to a simple question, but I find it quite disheartening to think that something proclaiming to be upstanding as NUS – could resort to insulting so many thousands of students (and tutors).

Please, I would very much like to discuss this further.

If you refuse to discuss this matter with me, could you give me information on how to make a formal complaint against the NUS for fraud?

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am a student at a college in the Midlands area and have noted a disproportionate amount of posters for ‘womens campaign’. I would like to address some of the issues they purport to deal with.

The wage gap:
It is a well established fact, for those who bother to investigate, that women do NOT earn less than men in a literal sense. There is a wage gap, of sorts, but it is not due to discrimination, as clearly implied by the misleading poster. There are a huge amount of factors that need to be accounted for in order to see the wage gap for what it really is, and not what feminists tell us it is.
I for one always believed the lies that women earn less than men for the simple fact they are women, as implied by your posters. However, I did my own research (as well as other areas) and came to realise that discrimination is not an issue, more of a scapegoat. The ‘claim’ that women earn less ignores how many hours worked, how much (or little) overtime, experience, sick-days, holidays, type of employment, and many, many more.
My question to you is this; Why would you try to trick college students into believing that there is a wage gap without explaining a single factor? Although it has worked on many thousands of people, why would you insult everyone’s intelligence by assuming none of them have the common sense to actually investigate outrageous claims such as “Women earn 17% less than men”. As I said, the FACTS are finally coming out slowly through the media and people are finally realising the truth behind the lies.

Violence:
Another misleading claim on the poster implies that violence *only* happens to women, which is complete rubbish. Not only has my brother received a broken rib from an ex-girlfriend, but like most men – he was too scared to report the abuse to the police for fear of mockery, denial, emasculation and a whole host of issues that affect abused men. I was unfortunate too by ending up in an abusive relationship where my ex-wife allowed her family to abuse me, my relationship to my children, my marriage, my stepchildren and even my own mother’s death was mocked by these sick people. Thanks to my ex-wife’s mental abuses, I was xxxxx for a long time and am still recovering from the impact of the damage she and her family have caused.

To see women’s groups implicitly claiming that violence against women is somehow more important than violence against men, especially when in excess of 130 studies reveal that intimate partner violence is mutual (50/50), is insulting, disgusting and downright sexist to monolithic proportions.

This is only two points of a poster addressing four ‘issues’… I wish to seek your response before I address the next two, and hope you have something positive to convey. I would like to see an effort by the NUS to reflect some honesty, as oppose misleading students, backed up with legitimate facts that are not extrapolated from feminist ‘studies’ which are known to be skewed. (e.g. Koss admitted her ‘one in four women in college are raped’ to be misleading – the true figure was closer to one in thirty-one).

I have done my research… have you?

Keep at them Karl.

It's important these impressionable students aren't being fed these 'blatant' lies unquestioned - which will only fuel another generation falling prey to the feminist rot.

It's just a suggestion, but, how about putting up some counter-posters (simple A-4 sprinkled with some facts) clandestinely, or bold as you like if you want.

Some may be sabotaged, others will be read, details will be written down etc. But most importantly of all is that from the stirrings of a few may bloom the questioning of many.

Not to be a nitpicker, but I am about to nitpick:

Make sure you cite your sources!

A study or two always establishes your credibility (and don't forget about DVStats.org), but be careful not to barage them with studies (because they could be far more effective at that game than we could). For fliers and signs, use footnotes whenever you need to cite a source. The key to effectively debunking feminist myths is absolute credibility.

What we can tell you is that 77% of victims of domestic violence are women and that domestic violence will affect 1 in 4 women in their lifetime, thus confirming a higher percentage of women suffer from domestic violence than men. These statistics were provided on the Home Office website, in the crimes and victims section. The source for these statistics is the Crime in England and Wales 2006/2007 Report, which is a report that combines the reporting of police recorded crime and the British Crime Survey results. It is a report which is produced annually.

I am sorry to hear that both you and your brother have been victims of domestic violence and can assure you that we would encourge any victim of domestic violence to go forward and report the crime to the police as we do not endorse or commend violence against anyone, under any circumstances.

So if anyone would be willing to give some sources for valid information and information on how the extrapolation methods give false impressions, or just assist in formulating a reply - it'd be appreciated.

I'm not trying to get into an argument with the NUS, but I do think it unfair that they misrepresent information.
