    TV Ads for Men

I got myself a new TV for Christmas. LED, HD, Digital, wide screen. Just the sort that might fit into a small cinema. Heck, I deserved it. Cj's old TV which he gave me to keep me off street corners and replaced my other even more clapped out TV, was on its last legs. (Thanks Cj)

My new one receives some 13 channels compared to the three + a poor reception one that I used to get. The picture is brilliant.

One of the channels I can get now is called '7Mate'. A blokes channel. It is 'programmed' for chaps, it seems. (old Star Treks etc)

So, the first advert that showed up when I turned to that channel was a men's clothing store in Hobart. In it the owner tells us chaps what women like and dislike us wearing. Specific attention was paid to arses, waistline expanders and 'pleats'.

As I was in a mellow mood, I sent off an email to the store, as follows.....

    Hello Les Lees.

I saw your advert on 7mate TV the other evening.

    Some feedback.....

What a woman likes a chap to wear or otherwise is neither here nor there to a chap.

Women’s taste in clothing is bizarre at the best of times and atrocious usually. Her taste is often stupid and very occasionally, when wearing very little, even then barely adequate. What on earth she can offer a chap in the way of advice on HIS clothing is suitable for a Harry Potter herbal magic lesson plan but little else.

If a chap wants pleats on either side of his flies, then give the chap his damned pleats. What a woman may think about them – like or dislike - is bound to change by the morning or late afternoon the next day. If one woman likes a chap in something one can get Tote odds that another woman will dislike it.

The woman in the advert giving blank looks says it all. Women are blank when it comes to men’s clothes and frankly thick as two short planks when it comes to their own.

Insulting chaps on a chaps’ TV station or referring them to the ‘woman’s taste’ test is NOT A GOOD IDEA !! I will not be shopping with you soon, sales or no.

    Yours, etc

    Nice one Parsifal.

Adverts that are supposedly aimed at men really “do my head in” especially the ones for shaving products, they all seem to follow the same format- bloke having a shave in the bathroom followed by smug bint rubbing his chin to indicate feminine approval of the product, it makes me wanna puke.
I have personally boycotted the male shaving product market, not by growing a luxuriant chin rug like your good self but by stealing the razors that my wife buys to shave her legs (they’re really good actually) and only using E45 cream after shaving, I never did like smelly aftershave that completely dries your face out anyway (does anyone really use that stuff??)

I think it's safe to observe there's probably a generation gap here too, Percy. My ex had a very good taste in fashion sense, whereas I have none.

The most offensive thing you can do to a feminist is treat her with FULL equality.
Wife : "I dreamt they were auctioning off dicks. The big ones went for ten dollars and the thick ones went for twenty dollars."
Husband : "How about the ones like mine?"
Wife : "Those they gave away."
Husband : "I had a dream too...I dreamt they were auctioning off pussy. The pretty ones went for a thousand dollars, and the little tight ones went for two thousand."
Wife : "And how much for the ones like mine?"
Husband : "That's where they held the auction."

If you have no taste or fashion sense, how could you tell if hers were good?

I mean, I can't choose a set of clothes that just 'fit' together well - she could. She was able to grab a few items of clothing and look incredible in them. She'd often buy my clothes for me too as I'd be quite happy in a boring pair of jeans and a tee.

To even dare suggest what a woman should wear and your deemed a controlling arsehole, let alone choose her wardrobe.

The gender that can wear crotchless knickers and skirts so short that they show off their breakfast, and inflatable bras, and six inch heels like nails in the bottom of their shoes, has NO BUSINESS making any comment on a gentleman's attire.

    LED screens use less power than other formats which is a definite plus nowadays with the carbon tax confidence trick about to be implemented in Australia by the recycled Marxists disguising themselves as Greens and Labor;
one credit I must give to Gillard ( our fumbling PM - worst luck !)is that she exported that gibbering ex PM Rudd overseas as the Foreign Minister !
the US diplomats have his range ! n already have commented upon Rudd's skill in the Wiki Leaks
