Thumbs up Campaign to cut suicide by young men

Campaign to cut suicide by young men

The government yesterday announced a campaign to reduce the number of young men who kill themselves - the commonest cause of death among those aged 16 to 35 in the UK. Last year 1,300 young men killed themselves. While the rate has begun to fall, it is still much higher than among women. In the peak age group, 30 to 39, three men kill themselves for every woman who takes her life.

The health minister Rosie Winterton told a men's health conference that the government was committed to making men more aware that help was available and more willing to seek it out: "We already have a national suicide strategy that is starting to have an impact, but we need to redouble our efforts in getting young men to look after their mental wellbeing and seek help when they need it."

She announced the launch of Reaching Out, a report of three pilot studies to encourage men to seek help. The studies found a reluctance among young men to go to the GP or engage in projects designed to help them in classroom-type settings - especially those who had literacy problems or were more vulnerable. It was much easier to engage men in non-formal settings such as youth centres.

Young men felt the underlying causes of mental ill-health were unemployment, crime, gang activity, social isolation and poor housing conditions. They did not trust health professionals to keep their problems confidential, they said.

Marcus Roberts of the mental health charity Mind said it was difficult to tackle suicide in isolation "when you have the Respect agenda, the Home Office agenda and the chaos in our schools agenda".

It's certainly an important subject, I'm not sure I'd trust some gov't agency to deal with it - don't these youngs guys thoroughly distrust the system already?

I had a buddy who offed himself in high school, he was maybe 18, very smart, very sensitive, I suspect he was filled with dismay at a society that was against him in so many ways

I am not sure what help is out there that is really good enough..

I suppose some folk find that, say, the samaritans are useful, to talk to..

Well, they are a bunch of fucking feminoids in my opinion, more likely to persuade a man to hang himself with their attitudes!

Or, in my case, I feel that with such wicked folk, I need to take a few down with me when i chose my demise!!

By such time, the strange urge to jump off a bridge has past..

Well that's true about the questionable quality you get. The veterans hospital booted me out too soon I think. I still have severe problems and the meds don't really help and I'm not a good candidate for therapy. I didn't know I was competeing for help but with all the women coming back from Iraq who didn't serve in combat need the therapy more.

They're going to cut male-suicide? I'll believe it when I see it.

I think the problems run far deeper than any femcunt minister of Health would be willing to admit. Like all social ills, this would go away with a thorough rearrangement of society's priorities. I've once heard that the definition of insanity was repeatedly preforming the same action, expecting different results. When are we going to learn that an ounce of prevention is far more effective than all the therapy and drugs in the world?

Of young men who kill themselves these days, how many grew up watching "mom" gleefully divorcing "dad," and financially raping him in family court?

    I hate femcunts.

Chev I'm not against talk therapy in principle, if it helps that's great, but my experience is that the underlying philosophy is feminine ie. it's all someone else's fault, and personal responsibility and action are secondary or even irrelevant - and traditional spirituality is given short-shrift

Christianity with all its faults does have the virtue of stressing personal accountability for your own well-being; I believe Marx, Lenin et al knew this and sought to undermine it

If these young guys see a world that misunderstands or misuses them, they shouldn't be told they're crazy - traditional teachings always warned about the 'normal' madness around us, while women's way is conformity and obedience

fuck me, isnt that just typical? women as ever get the prefferential trteament because they fucking moan the most, even though they dont actually know how to top themselves properly.. Its fucking easy.. high bridge.. big drop.. die!!

I have never had therapy for anything other than to try to stop me from raping women who are too scared to press charges afterwards, they say I am unsuited for therapy too, I guess many men are, they just want us drugged up and made quieter so we dont disturb folk with our frightening home truths..

All the talking in the world does little other than expose us to more attacks..

Its all set up with the feminine perspective of "feelings" etc being real and ones recollections being truly "real"..

But, when your heads fucked, unless a fellow decides to trust in you and your basic good nature, then he or she can decide to take it all the other way..

The mental health industry is a fucking disgrace..

In the UK especially, its run by the most paranoid of folk and believe me, I have shagged enough of the nurses and doctors to know just how fucked up they themselves are.. Highest suicide rate of all professions!

Men need a fucking reason to live..

If society would provide that, (which it wont) then they are simply pissing about with their shitty drugs and pointless therapy..

When everything you haev lived for is rubbished and taken from you, its fighting time.. If you cant fight anymore, you just decay..

And the drugs allow you to decay better!

Suicide is not that fucking bad.. its better than living as a zombie!

Even better, dont succumb to the temptations of the high bridge until you have at least tried teaching a few cunts a lesson or three..

Life in jail is probably not that bad, compared to the open prison without bars that is wetsern mans lot in feminazidom..

Re: Campaign to cut suicide by young men

I think I may have to side with Drex on this one.

This could help men reduce the number of suicides if done in the right way. However, I think it will be more than likely be put into effect to shove medications down the men's throats. Turning them into zonked out people who will still go to work but get no joy out of life.

The only reason they are probably worried right now about men committing suicide, is the fact that they need us for labor. With all the retirees there will be a big gap in the labor market and lots of taxes needing to be collected. So the government needs these men to be out producing instead of dying.

Yip, precisely.. they want to force us to be the living mangina drones.. the drugs do things to your little chappie that mean you have to find pleasure in something other than constant masturbation.. (which is a fine treatment for mental stress i have found!)

    Exactly.

imo Women's instinct for self-preservation is high, they don't require outside motivation. Adult males are wired to serve and protect [no disrespect intended to those in uniform]; when this is taken away they're lost.

Chev no problem, I wasn't arguing your post, just venting a bit
