Going postal
....on an internet forum like this one. Ever done it? Ever lost your mind completely and decided it might be loads of fun to verbally gun down just about everyone in your immediate cyber vicinity?
I'm thinking about it. I shouldn't be thinking about it.
I could always blame it on that old black dog.
"Civilization can only revive when there shall come into being in a number of individuals a new tone of mind, independent of the prevalent one among the crowds, and in opposition to it- a tone of mind which will gradually win influence over the collective one, and in the end determine its character. Only an ethical movement can rescue us from barbarism, and the ethical comes into existence only in individuals."

Wife : "I dreamt they were auctioning off dicks. The big ones went for ten dollars and the thick ones went for twenty dollars."
Husband : "How about the ones like mine?"
Wife : "Those they gave away."
Husband : "I had a dream too...I dreamt they were auctioning off pussy. The pretty ones went for a thousand dollars, and the little tight ones went for two thousand."
Wife : "And how much for the ones like mine?"
Husband : "That's where they held the auction."

When I do this, and I know I will, it will be comparable to the lame learning to walk, the blind being enabled to see and the suffocated breathing again. The sky isn't the limit; there are no limits.

Re: Going postal
The number of posts that I have typed, only to delete before sending, I cannot count !
Occasionally the Viking Warrior lashes out with his sword and demands heads on pikes or Professors be thrown from Ivory Tower windows. Very occasionally I get so angry and dismayed that even my friends here - who are very patient with me - get an earful of invective.
I apologise to them all.
But Tera, my dear, I know what you mean !
Cum dilectione hominum et odio vitiorum
Love the Sinner but not the Sin.
(St. Augustine)
“ For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers,
against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. “

A Feminist is a human being who has lost her way and turned vicious.
If you meet one on the road as you Go your Own Way,
offer kindness but keep your sword drawn.

Re: Going postal
Tera, from time to time people say mean and hurtful things that they really don't mean depending on their mood.
I can't speak for everyone but I can speak for myself. Overall, I don't think any differently of you than I did before because of something you've said one time or another when you were pissed. I don't think that someone should be judged based on action that they commit at one time or another when overall they're a decent person.
I guess I'll put this in terms that aren't confusing to ya, Popa still loves ya

Re: Going postal
You delete lots of posts before you hit the "submit reply" button, too? I do it all the time. I admit, I get frustrated often and I actually do try to restrain my inappropriate responses more than it actually appears.
I'm sorry to those who got side-swiped by bullets not meant to be aimed in your direction. I'm sorry to some I actually purposefully took aim at. Some were deserving, some not.
It might be getting close to a time for me to take a break. I don't do that often enough. I suppose it is necessary now and then in order to keep from becoming that which I despise.

Re: Going postal
I'm not trying to make you feel bad.
I know sometimes the way I speak puts people off. Sometimes it's how I word things. I'm not sure that I word things exactly how I think because perhaps I don't always articulate my thoughts perfectly.
I also realize that you, like many of us, are going thru some hard times and because of the stress and anxiety it's easy for you to feel overwhelmed at times and sometimes this isn't the best place to be when one is stressed.
I know I'm not without my imperfections and everyone isn't going to agree with me or even understand me but if nothing else I suppose people can understand that I intend to do good, it's just that everyone has a different opinion of what good is, I suppose. When I do this, and I know I will, it will be comparable to the lame learning to walk, the blind being enabled to see and the suffocated breathing again. Re: Going postal
I can empathize with most of what you are saying here. I often find it difficult to articulate exactly what I am thinking without being misunderstood by others. I also have moments where I misunderstand other people.
I know you mean well and that you are a good person, Popadibs. Most people here really are- even Zuberi, who tends to say things that infuriate me. I know that for the most part he is probably completely unaware that he's doing that.
I'm sorry if I hurt your feelings.

Re: Going postal
No, I have not....but I've seen it happen and it's seldom pretty. I think the following's VERY fitting (hat tip to Dad Savage).

http://redwing.hutman.net/~mreed/war.../jekylhyde.htm
As a forum participant Jekyll and Hyde always plays by the rules and is consistently cordial and helpful – a model netizen, until one day he comes completely uncorked and lashes out without warning. His unanticipated thunderbolts can temporarily rout even the sturdiest Warriors, and it often takes some time for his stunned opponents to mount a counter attack. Jekyll and Hyde’s sudden behavioral change may result from a psychotic episode, PMS, a downturn in the market, a surprise visit by the in-laws – or a session of hard drinking..."Every noble impulse, every unselfish expression of love; every brave suffering for the right; every surrender of self to something higher than self; every loyalty to an ideal; every unselfish devotion to principle; every helpfulness to humanity; every act of self-control; every fine courage of the soul, undefeated by pretense or policy, but by being, doing, and living of good for the very good’s sake—that is spirituality." -David O. McKay

Re: Going postal
Dear Tera
stop trying to reconcile the claptrap which is feminitism to reality - it is like trying to square the circle - a total exercise in futility
this decision will relieve your mind of unecessary stress a bit like stopping chasing the goose around the barnyard

It probably isn't, and it probably causes regret or remorse. So I won't do it.
