Exit time, so long good fellows, I've gotta go..

You chaps might not be seeing much of me in the future, and I am sure that will bring a sigh of relief from many folks and perhaps a few predictable comments in the negative from the usual suspects..

I know many people think its bad form to make announcements that one is off, for either temporary or permanent time spans..

They can think that if they want, I personally find it much more annoying that 99% of folks just dissapear, often when one is expecting them to be responding to something or other, without so much as a word..

The reasons I have to cut are:-

1. I have always been interested in the online movement primarily as a way of finding folks who can do stuff in "real life" or work in specific ways towards the agreed goals.. I was warned years ago that this is far more difficult a task than it seems and I see now that those folks where more right than I feared! It has got harder and harder to find folk who want to partake in such.. For me, it is no longer worth even contemplating that it is worth the effort..

2. My main areas of interest, the fathers cause, has pretty much completely collapsed as a viable activist opportunity in the UK with an all time low of action happening and practically no hope of any for the forseeable future. Most of the key people have now quit, of even the few that remained active for the last few years. It is really extremely dire and it looks totally beyond revival now without any doubt, even for the most optimistic of souls..

I thought that the MRM was picking up last year and was overtaking the FRM for activism opportunities, but even if that is/was the case, its still very weak anyway and it seems that most activism is still hardly distinguishable from feminist campaigns in the blunt analysis and a waste of my time and everyone elses because its gonna achieve nothing significant at any rate..

3. I have masses of stuff to do in my personal life and the internet has always been a terrible destraction for me. There is no point in me switching my laptop on to be honest anymore, because the way I see it, im wasting not only my own time, but everyone elses.

Ok, there you have it then, this is how I feel about things and you don't have to agree with it, but if you are still sat here in 5 years and "the cause" is still in the same/worse position then...

So, I'll be off then, I wish you folks luck in all your campaigning or just general chit chat and helping each other out with support etc..

Knowing me, Ill probably be checking back in now and then, so feel free to try and convince me that the MRM is actually making "progress", and I will respond with a reality check... Or maybe not..

Whatever, its about me, not you guys, I can't keep wasting vast amounts of time that can be better spent on stuff that has some purpose for me personally, regards myself, my family and those who exist in my real world..

If I can get the password for it back..

Felixblue, its been very interesting reading your posts, you've opened my eyes to a lot. You've certainly taken me on step up in my consciousness.

At first I found your posts bordering on being rude, with a stange undercurrent, but the more I read what you had to say, I say that you had a certain (English/black?) sense of humour which comes from a deep understanding of certain key issues, which comes form experience and wisdom.

I am new to the whole FRM and MRM movements (just over a year into it), whereas I can see you are a veteran.

We all spend as much time in the front line as we can. Its spring, take a back seat, enjoy the summer, and perhaps return in the autumn.

You can be sure if I have anything of significance to report I will keep you chaps informed. I still have a few folks I am in communication with who have some "ambitious" plans that in theory at least, look good..

But I am the sort of chap who gets in my car to get from a to b as quickly as possible..

But sadly gets destracted by the roadside goings on far too easily and thats not good for anyone!

I think its an endemic problem in the cause, and I certainly lose focus easier than most people.

I am pleased to see marx is slowly developing his personal approach to activism and with his relative youth on his side I am sure even at a slow rate he is a good prospect to look out for.

Being exposed to many views as he is, he can choose to take the "middle ground" or press ahead with other ideas, but I have a feeling that this site and forum is going to be around for a long time yet and all the good men who have stopped by and may have moved on or given up, can always check in and see what looks like a good barometer of whats happening in "the cause"..

Keep it warm chaps and chapesses..

When AM began linking with Facebook I got a little nervous too. I am always very private and never put much info on profiles and never put pictures online. Facebook is a privacy nightmare but I have never felt that AM was insecure, it doesn't matter anyway since I keep personal information at a minimum.

Garak, the *only* thing AM shares with FB is a cookie. Nothing more. It simply allows members to click a "publish to facebook" button so they can post in both places at once.
