  1. a journey...

by , 23rd-May-2011 at 01:07 PM (Misandry and Fathers)
Life is a journey not a destination, Fathers are patient and persistent. Collectively we have been on this quest from the beginning. We are not born learnt but learning, pray we never stop. We may not overtly ask for directions, we are constantly searching our world for answers and new perspectives: we are constantly adding wisdom, knowledge, constantly challenging ourselves and others to grow and building our judgment and when all collected, amoungst other things when we leave this earthly world, for we are only temporary custodians, we pass it to others; our legacy. Even then, at least for some of us, our quest is not finished, only moved to a new plateau. Where we start is not of our choosing, the path we follow is.

Some have sought to distract us men, right from the start, the themes of distraction appear recurrent.
Amazing as it may be, men have been told what they do and don't know at various times,
With so many trying to distract us and to despise what we know,
Surprising not, it is, that few Brothers offer to mentor, initiate, give of their learning.

Over time there have been those rhetorical questions designed to prompt our thoughts,
Men have negotiated their boundaries, between themselves and others, it would seem it is still in process,
Others, to distract us or dissuade us or direct us in an errant way put forth their political diatribe,
I want what you have, I want it as mine
'tis their true call though cleverly disguised.

Be wise, my son, and bring joy to my heart.
Then I can answer anyone who treats me with contempt
The prudent see danger and take refuge
    As iron sharpens iron,
    So one man sharpens another.

He will turn the hearts of the fathers to their children,
And the hearts of the children to their fathers

Through out time, at one juncture and others, men have acted as Brothers managed to work in harmony
Many men, as many men do, look outside of their selves to others, to lend to them their strength
Reaching their arms out to pull up another
Wise counsel may well advise, leave the snake where it lies, see it for what it is, lest you be bit
    While trying to help others
Some have urged taking care of one's own house before helping others,
Certainly we should work to be whole despite the lifelong journey, or at least as whole as we can be at the moment as we travel forward.

Men have verbal traditions, those skills we pass to our sons and some others, some of our legacy, a collection of wisdom we have chosen to collect in books.
Maps, blue prints even schematics most probably we can never stop reading
Adding to our collection of wisdom or even borrowing there from, is not a bad thing

As I understand it earlier farmers gather crop harvest
Knocked of the head of the crops
And threw the heads on a sheet
With a wind blowing and working in Brotherly harmony
Men would hold the sheet betwixt themselves tossing the heads into the wind
As the men winnowed the chaff would separate from the kernels
Most curiously there are at times strange fellows that for their own delight
Chase the chaff about, collect it, and throw it back on the sheet, perhaps they are preparing diatribe?

Whilst traversing our journey of life, and not necessarily understood why, some change the road markers
Some change the distance announcements, others still cause landslides that block the path completely

Fortunately for humanity, Fathers are patient and persistent, knowing full well distances and routes may change we develop within ourselves, some more and some less at any one time, the capacity to winnow out and winnow again the chaff from the kernel of wisdom…

...the pivot point seems to be thy eye discerning.
