    Gentlemen, please move on..

We finally get some names of those feminised manginas that we have here in Australia. You know these gutless, ball-less wimps by their continual cow-towing to feminist hyper-crass.

Here are the names of those bastards that are constantly selling us out to benefit themselves.. Bear them in MIND when the next election rears it's ugly head.. Deadbeat Politicians and their toadies..
Those brandishing their feminist cred, including competition watchdog Graeme Samuel, Prime Minister's Department head Terry Moran, former Victorian Liberal Party director John Ridley, former ALP national secretary Geoff Walsh and former Hawthorn president Ian Dicker, are far from happy.
Apart from those cretins, we have this article that explains the situation admirably, not bad for a female journalist, especially with an article that fails to demonstrate that women were victims... blah, blah , blah, yada, yada, yada..

    Gentlemen, please move on

    Sally Morrell

    January 05, 2009

YOU'VE got to wonder why Eddie McGuire and his SNAG mates joined a club whose rules they hate.

No, I'm not talking about Collingwood. Eddie and co joined the Athenaeum, a gentleman's club in Collins St, knowing full well it was a gentlemen-only club.

But for the past year Eddie and his gang of 130 have been demanding that the Athenaeum and its 1600-strong membership let in women members.

Last week the club hierarchy not only said a final "No" but also declared discussion of the topic officially closed.

President Don Heathcote banned debate on the issue as it was too "distressing" for the male membership to cope with.

Those brandishing their feminist cred, including competition watchdog Graeme Samuel, Prime Minister's Department head Terry Moran, former Victorian Liberal Party director John Ridley, former ALP national secretary Geoff Walsh and former Hawthorn president Ian Dicker, are far from happy.

There's talk the club faces a "string of high-profile resignations", although only a handful, including Samuel, have actually quit.

But gentlemen, the Athenaeum has had this rule since 1842, at least a century before you joined, and we've had the old-style feminists rage against it since you and I were in kinder.

Why on earth did you join the club in the first place if you really think a men's-only club an outrage and an embarrassment?

Why didn't you start up your own club? Or join the mixed-gender Kelvin Club or the RACV, with its swish new building? Or maybe a service club, such as Rotary, which actually does good in the community?

But joining a gentlemen's club, only to then demand it change one of its most fundamental rules, seems a bit like cheating. Sort of like joining the Catholic Church and then demanding it worship Buddha instead.

Of course, once there was the cry of "sexism" the usual gender war warriors came out to once more re-fight the battles of last century.

There was Victoria's Equal Opportunity and Human Rights Commission chief, Helen Szoke, claiming that while she had no power to change the Athenaeum's rules it was a "matter for common sense" that it should allow women to join.

    Common sense?

Common sense tells me that it's actually very common indeed for women to prefer women's company, and men men's.

Barbecues in my childhood always had the women clustering around the kitchen, while the men stood around doing what they do to the snags and burgers.

And nothing much has changed. Look around at the next school social or street party, and you'll see the sexes doing their oil-and-water thing.

Sure, my women friends love the men in their lives, and love socialising with men, but we also love our women-only time.

My book club has no women-only rule, yet not a single man has even asked to join it in the years we've been going, and none of us plans to bring one along soon. It's wonderful to be among just women, free to indulge ourselves in goss and pop-psychology.

Then there's the clubs that free us from the pressure of the judgment of the other sex, such as the women-only Fernwood gyms.

When Fernwood was granted an exemption under the Equal Opportunity Act the panel found a women-only gym was vital because it was a "friendly non-threatening environment for women who are able to attend the centres without feeling self-conscious or embarrassed".

I bet those old dinosaurs at the Athenaeum feel much the same way about their club.

And, I guess, the club offers them much the same kind of service.

A refuge from the other sex, albeit in somewhat grander environs and with a brandy after dinner to boot.

And you've got to wonder why Szoke doesn't also declare war on the women-only Lyceum Club, just a short walk from the Athenaeum.

For some reason the sight of rich women enjoying each other's company seems natural and social, but the sight of rich men doing the same seems sinister and evidence of a conspiracy.

Bet there's no simmering hotbed of discontent at the Lyceum trying to start a push to get men through the door. The disgruntled 130 might like to see this as a great moral issue.

But, to me at least, it seems nothing more than a private club deciding on its own rules. Guys, if you don't like the club, then don't join. And if you can't persuade your other members to change the rules, then resign and leave the 1470 club members to while away their time without a woman in sight.

But don't try joining the Melbourne Club, the Australian Club or the Savage Club. Because they are all male-only too. And then the whole circus will have to start again.

Good one, a gentlemans club, is a mens refuge.. Women dont let men in their refuges, nor do men want to go there (unless they are trying to retrieve stolen propert, i.e. family..).

Good to see her step up and give the arguments, but why oh why does she still have to be misandric with words like 'old dinosaurs'. Quite unecessary.

Yes Percy I noticed that as well. It's sort of taking it both ways. She is for it but why bother with an article without making those sexist and derogatory comments..

What can I say ? I don't respect female journalists for that reason. Seems to be the case that they just cannot write any article without it..
