    no $$$ in mediation

N.B. social workers slam province for court mediation cuts despite report

    CBC News

The New Brunswick Association of Social Workers is accusing the provincial government of slashing the jobs of 14 court mediators in its March budget despite a major report that calls for more mediation.
'This actually contradicts significantly the recommendation by Judge Guerette.' Miguel LeBlanc, N.B. Association of Social Workers
On Tuesday, Justice Minister T.J. Burke released the Access to Family Justice Task Force report, a scathing document that said families are facing unacceptable delays in seeing their cases resolved because the system is overwhelmed by paperwork and by procedure.
Justice Raymond Guerette, the task force's chairman, also recommended a series of new ways to make the system less adversarial and include more mediation.
Burke said in question period on Wednesday that the task force's final report hit his desk in January and was immediately sent for translation so it could be released publicly.
Two months later, Finance Minister Victor Boudreau's budget called for a series of belt-tightening measures to deal with the $740-million deficit and the Department of Justice instituted a number of cuts, including the elimination of the mediators.
Miguel LeBlanc, the executive director of the social workers' association, said he's troubled by that decision.
"This actually contradicts significantly the recommendation by Judge Guerette," LeBlanc said.
Mediators were doing more paperwork than mediation

Mary-Eileen Flanagan, who was also a task force member, said the issue is much bigger than the job cuts.
Because of procedure and paperwork demands, the mediators who were cut had actually been doing very little mediation, she said.
Implementing the task force's recommendations would involve making more alternatives available to families who want to avoid going to court, including mediation.
"There will be new mediators in the new paradigm. However, they will not be doing what the mediators have been doing," Flanagan said.
The justice minister announced plans this week to set up one or two pilot projects this fall to try out a new system along the lines of the report's recommendations.

Yup, money makes the world go round.
Do not ever suppose that a small group of people can never change the world. INDEED it is the only thing that ever has.

Thumbs down Re: no $$$ in mediation

Mediation is not worth a $ or a if the mother is vengeful enough to drag you through the courts for money and use the kids as a tool or weapon to achieve her objectives (simples)

Correct, sir. Family law attorneys are not far from the top in compensation, due to the desperation (male clients) and lucrative outcomes (female clients) generated by family matters. Why would lawyers do anything to support non-lawyers to resolve such matters? Lawyers have every incentive to make things more complicated, hostile and polarized as possible.

I know of six law students attending law school right now, who are being sponsored by women's groups (living and law school paid in full, total $80k per year), to go into family law upon passing the bar.
    THEY'RE ALL FEMALES.

    I shit you not.

""Mediation is not worth a $ or a if the mother is vengeful enough to drag you through the courts for money and use the kids as a tool or weapon to achieve her objectives (simples) ""

mediation is one of the steps up the scaffold for most fathers being run through the feminit divorce rip-off carousel aka the feminit star chamber system

the mediators are actually one of the parasites attached to the process others being the lawyers the judges the police and the legislators who draft the swill they run by

the media are another form of feminit lamprey as they gleefully report on the "DV "husband getting his come -upins Oprah and Dr Phil sometimes feature especially errant ex husbands to account for themselves

On one Dr Phil episode a father had actually allowed the programme to install cameras in his house and it picked up dad admonishing his young daughter about a point of her behaviour

Dr Phil used this as evidence of child abuse and told the father on his show he was going to send the tape to the American version of the child protection agency for their opinion - now doubt as evidence for some subsequent legal action against the father

Question Re: no $$$ in mediation

Check out my comment on civil rights on the Kalif Komisars thread

Also mediation in the family court process sounds like a contridiction in terms, as you both say, their objctive whether it be a celebrity couple or joe shit they want to agitate matters for as long as possible to drain it for as long as posible regardless of the out come for the children involved yet more of us attend these courts each day like lemmings when they should all be boycotted as I believed when I frst went for it and all the information was there I could not belive it was going to be as bad as it turned out!
Also may I refer you to my Help Jenny thread where a young girl has ended up in care when the origanl concern was not child abuse but the RSPCA attending to reports of cruelty to a dog ( not upheld) You couldn't make it up!
