Woman accused of stalking John Cusack admits attempting to call him



A prosecutor says Emily Leatherman violated a restraining order by placing calls to the actor and his security consultant from a jail in Lynwood.

The woman accused of stalking actor John Cusack acknowledged during a court hearing today that she had made attempts to contact the actor from jail.

Emily Leatherman, 33, made the comments at a hearing in Van Nuys on whether she is mentally fit to stand trial on felony stalking charges. The judge postponed a ruling on that issue because a court-appointed psychiatrist had not yet examined her.

Los Angeles County Deputy Dist. Atty. Ann Ambrose said Leatherman had violated a restraining order by placing calls to Cusack and a security consultant employed by him from the Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood.

Leatherman, who is acting as her own attorney, admitted making the calls.

The prosecutor said she would press additional charges and ask for Leatherman's phone privileges to be revoked if she violated the restraining order again.

"You can have your investigator contact [Cusack and consultant Bill Mancini], but you cannot contact them," Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Susan M. Speer told her.

Speer said a psychiatrist would examine Leatherman and report his findings to her Aug. 13. Leatherman complained about the scheduling delay, telling the judge she was tired of "just sitting in a cold cell by myself."

The judge cut her off after she accused the prosecutor of perjury and shouted allegations that she had been raped by a sex-trafficking ring.

Leatherman faces six years in prison if convicted. Prosecutors allege that she sent Cusack 200 letters and packages, some threatening, over a period of years and ignored a restraining order. She was arrested outside his Malibu residence in April.


And how many more slaps on the wrists is this woman going to get?

She violates a restraining order over 200 times for YEARS (documented), finally goes to jail, continues to violate the order, makes a false rape claim on top of all of this, and is told "if you do it again you might lose your phone privileges"??????

WTF....why does this woman even have phone privileges to begin with?

The Judge insults YOU, as well as men.

She is getting 'light' treatment, not because of who she is, but because of what YOU are. A woman.

She is treated like a naughty child because that is how feminism wants YOU to be treated. Not as an adult.

I didn't even think of it that way, Percy, but you're right.

But still....I'm most angry because this woman has made a man's life a living hell for what amounts to YEARS, and the police have not seen fit to enforce the restraining order until just now. And even then, she's still given all sorts of leeway while she continues to harass the poor guy from JAIL. It's incomprehensible.
