Stabbed in arm by girlfriend in drunken barney | |

A woman from Old Goole who stabbed her boyfriend with a kitchen knife during an alcohol-induced argument has appeared in court this week.
Tracy Partington (39), of Percy Street, pleaded guilty to a charge of assault occasioning actual bodily harm when she appeared at Goole Magistrates' Court on Tuesday morning.
Prosecutor Jeremy Evans told the court that Miss Partington had been in a relationship with the victim for five years and that she had a previous police caution for stabbing him in the arm two years ago.
On October 21 this year the couple had both been out drinking and they met up at 7.30pm when the defendant went to the victim's home with her daughter.
At 10.30pm, after having more to drink, the couple began arguing. She hit out at him with some keys she had in her hand. They struck him on the head causing a cut; she then threw a mobile phone at him.
Plunged knife into arm
The victim was trying to calm things down and followed Miss Partington into the kitchen. As he spoke to her she picked up a kitchen knife and began 'jabbing' it at him. He put his arms up to protect himself and she stabbed him in the right arm.
She put the knife down but after more words were exchanged between the couple she picked it up again. She jabbed at him again, this time plunging the knife into his other arm.
Police were called to the address and Miss Partington told one of the officers "I've stabbed the bastard.".
In interview Miss Partington told police they were both drunk. She admitted hitting him with keys causing a wound to his head and also admitted throwing the phone at him and stabbing him deliberately. She said it was because she was drunk.
Miss Partington's version of events, which formed the basis of her plea, said the couple had got into an argument and she had been assaulted by him. Police confirmed there were bruises on her arms. She admitted that her attack on him was not in self defence.
Defending, Mr Richard Thompson told the magistrates that the victim was aggressive towards Miss Partington. He agreed she had a police caution for the previous attack on him two years ago.
The court heard Miss Partington's partner had tried to contact her since the incident and that he had made no formal complaint to police.
Magistrates adjourned the case against Miss Partington until January 9. An all-options pre-sentence report was requested for that date and Miss Partington was warned that the court would be looking at the possibility of a prison sentence as well as a community penalty.
Miss Partington was granted conditional bail until that date.
