HENDRY COUNTY, Fl[orid]a. -- A chain of horrible events in Florida ended with a rape victim in jail and an innocent man dead.

Amber Lee, 21, has been jailed on preliminary charges of murder after authorities said she ran over a man she thought raped her. But the Florida Highway Patrol said she hit the wrong guy.

She claims it was a horrible accident, but the victim's family isn't so sure.

"I'm not a murderer," Lee said.

Lee and her boyfriend were trying to sell their CD player last December when the alleged rape occurred.

"He made me get out of the car and pulled me behind a building and that's where he raped me," she said. "When he pulled me around the building, I thought I was gonna die. I didn't know he was gonna do that until he told me to get on my knees."

Lee said she pleaded with the man to let her go, thinking of her young daughter.

"We were just trying to get out of there," she said. "We tried to go around one man in the middle of the road. It just ended up happening, it happened so fast."

The Florida Highway Patrol said Lee mowed down Timothy Bualkmann, 32, with her car. Authorities said she thought Bualkmann had raped her.

"It's hard," Lee said. "It's not fun, it's not easy. I'm sorry for the man's family and everything, but what happened was an accident."

Baulkmann's cousin said he doesn't feel bad for Lee, and wants her to pay.

"He lost his life; we lost a family member," Tim White said. "The law can do something to her."

Now just months away from giving birth to another child, Lee worried the accident could mean a life sentence away from her two children.

"From the bottom of my heart, I am so sorry," she said. "I can only imagine what they're going through. But I don't want them to think that one day I don't think about him."

Lee's attorney said the man accused of raping Lee was arrested, but there wasn't enough evidence to charge him.

And? You should have considered that prior to committing murder.

I have no sympathy for this woman. She viewed herself as above the law and with any luck, may just pay the price that any man would have pay if he did similar.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was false rape and a lie to make her less accountable for the murder. Hope she gets life in prison!

Wait a minute. We all know that no evidence is needed to arrest, charge, and jail a man accused of rape. All that is needed is a woman's accusation. Since she was taken into custody immediately, it's not like all of the evidence was removed during a shower or something. I bet she made up the whole rape thing. They were 'trying to sell a CD player' when this guy just forced her behind a building. Why was there no mention of a weapon. According to the article, she was with her boyfriend. Nobody could force her anywhere with him there without a gun. Sounds like they were trying to sell something, that was perhaps stolen, and put themselves in a shady situation that they rushed to get out of and she ran over the man in the process. The rape story is just too convenient. Notice how they only mention that the man was never charged until the very last sentence, and they still refer to her as a victim even though there is no evidence to support the claim.

Wtf?

Who would rape someone with their BOYFRIEND present with them?

It's obvious that she made up this story, due to the fact that her boyfriend was present with her and could of easily prevented that from happening. I bet she forgot that little detail. Her story is horrible. Anyone that believes this story, needs to go back to reading comprehension.

What she did WAS murder, even if she DID get raped and ran over the actual person. Now a person is dead due to this bitch running someone over for no reason.

I hope she gets a life sentence without parole.

That's because less girls are being raised with morals and dignity.

Parents aren't teaching their kids how to be ladies and gentlemen. Fathers aren't being included in their kids' lives as much when I was growing up, which is why we are fighting for father's rights. It is a proven fact that kids live better with a father present.

Wouldn't this suggest that less boys are being raised with morals and dignity as well or that quite possibly boys are being raised differently?

If boys and girls are being raised with the same lack of morals and dignity then why do you think it was easier for girls to disregard men's lives than vice versa? Do you think it's only a matter of time before males reciprocate this disregard for female life?

If fathers aren't being included in children's lives how can both set of parents be responsible for not teaching their kids to be ladies and gentlement?

There are a lot of young men that grow up without fathers that join gangs and go around killing people. The fact that they lack a father does not make me sympathize with their decision to kill and harm innocent people. I would hope that this lack of fatherhood wouldn't be a reason to pardon evil women that take innocent men's lives just because they feel they can.

Whether this woman or any woman grew up without a father or not does not make me sympathize with them when they decide to take one of our lives.
