    A Bryan woman was arrested Thursday after her boyfriend told police she stabbed him in the leg with scissors during an argument over a cell phone voice mail that he wouldn't let her listen to.

    Mary Barrera Garcia, 41, also tried to choke the man and attempted to hit him upside the head with a wooden object during the argument, according to court documents.

    Police responded to the Verde Drive residence after receiving a call from a witness who saw the two arguing outside, documents state. At one point while outside, Garcia knocked the man down and continued punching him until his yells for help attracted the attention of a neighbor, a witness said.

    Police documented bruises on the man's calf, where he said he was stabbed, and on his inner thigh, where he said he was pinched, police reported. He also had scratches on his cheek and his neck was "very red," police said.

    Garcia was charged with assault - family violence.
