The Mankind Initiative - For Male Victims of DV | | http://www.mankind.org.uk/
This is on their "Aims and Objectives" page: Quote:
MANKIND INITIATIVE OBJECTIVES
Family Law
We campaign for the right of children to have meaningful contact with both fit parents after divorce or separation.
Family Abuse
This is a social issue that affects men, women and children. We are campaigning for a socially inclusive approach to the problem, so that all victims receive the help they need regardless of sex, race or sexual orientation.
Men’s Health
Apart from the detrimental effects that family breakdown and domestic abuse have on men we also campaign for improved preventative healthcare for men.
Boy’s Education
Boys now lag behind girls in all subjects. We are pressing for the implementation of pilot projects designed to improve the educational attainment of boys, particularly in vocational subjects, as well as encouraging more male teachers in primary education.
Equality Under the Law
Home Office records* show that men receive harsher and longer sentences than women for the same crime. Men are not granted anonymity in rape trials. False accusations are made which can wreck the lives of young men and their families, whilst the accusers remain unpunished. We will continue to press for equality under the law. * www.dewar4research.org
Relationships Between Men and Women
The images of men and women portrayed in the media are severely damaging relationships. Men are either demonised or portrayed as weak and useless, and women are portrayed as aggressive and selfish. Men are denigrated and masculinity is constantly undermined. The inevitable result is a rise in single living, single parent families and the destruction of family values. ManKind wants to rebuild respect between men and women.
Children
Mankind accepts all lifestyles, but will continue to campaign for government support of the family through marriage, which forms the best form of support for children. | |
