I am a burns victim myself and I work with burns victims at the local burn ward in Burwood, Christchurch, New Zealand.

It is one thing to be burned, it is another to actually recover healthily and without any mental issues, if you survive at all.

Although the idea of what constitutes a hate crime has been rendered 'almost' meaningless by it's broad application to just about every other demographic that isn't white hetrosexual male, this to me justifies a hate crime being attached to the charges - as she specifically targetted his genitalia. Such an act is the quintessence of misandry.

Tragedy? The house 'accidentally' burning down and someone dying is a tragedy! The misuse of such a word is to attempt to allay what was a premeditated and hateful act of barbarity. It's 'illuminating' how womens friendships and support of one another rarely diminishes irrespective of whatever crimes committed, given how propriety and morals are so infrequently consulted.

An Adelaide woman who allegedly set fire to her husband's genitals allegedly said that his "penis belongs to me", a court has been told.
Rajini Narayan, 44, had originally been charged with endangering life and arson offences after she allegedly torched the family's Unley home, in Adelaide's eastern suburbs on December 8.


The charge was upgraded to murder after her 47-year-old husband, Satish Narayan, died in hospital last week.
Prosecutors on Monday told the Adelaide Magistrates Court that Rajini Narayan confessed to neighbours that she had set her husband alight while he was sleeping after learning he was having an affair.


Lucy Boord, for the Crown, said Narayan told her neighbours she was a "jealous wife" and that her husband's "penis should belong to her".
Narayan allegedly said: "I just wanted to burn his penis so it belongs to me and no one else ... I didn't mean this to happen."


Narayan was remanded in custody and has been charged with murder, arson and three counts of endangering life, due to the couple's three children being home when the fire took hold.


It is expected Narayan will apply for bail when she reappears in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Friday, pending results of a psychological assessment.

Can anyone see the contradiction within the same statement. She just wanted to burn his penis, but didn't mean it to happen? She sounds like a child avoiding responsibility.

Also, imagine a man saying that his wife's "vagina should belong to him." The woman is a misandrist and a danger to all men. It'll be interesting to see what sentence she receives (if any?).

Not even charged with Domestic Violence.

A jealous wife who allegedly set her husband's penis on fire will answer a murder charge in January.

Rajini Narayan, 44, appeared briefly in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Friday charged with murder, arson and endangering life.

The mother of three allegedly set fire to the genitals of her husband, Satish Narayan, in December last year.

Mr Narayan suffered major burns and died several weeks later.

The fire also gutted the family's suburban Unley home leaving a damage bill of about $1 million.

A previous court hearing heard Narayan had told neighbours: "I'm a jealous wife, his penis should belong to me. I just wanted to burn his penis so it belongs to me and no one else ... I didn't mean this to happen."

In court on Friday, defence counsel Lindy Powell, QC, asked for a delay in the date for her client to answer the charge as discussions were still under way with the prosecution.

Magistrate Alf Grasso set down January 22 for Narayan's next appearance.
