Kerry Katona arrested for 'punching her accountant and throwing cup of tea over him'

Reality television star Kerry Katona was today bailed on suspicion of assaulting her accountant, a police source said.

Katona, 28, was arrested after an incident in Warrington, Cheshire, in which her accountant David McHugh was attacked.

The mother-of-four, from Wilmslow, Cheshire was also taken into custody on suspicion of committing criminal damage and a public order offence.

The row with Mr McHugh was alleged to have happened at his business premises at the Hawthorne Business Park.

The ex-Atomic Kitten singer was released in the early hours from Daresbury custody suite near Runcorn.

Today a Cheshire Police spokesman said: 'A 28-year-old woman has been released and granted police bail until 12 October at 9am pending further investigation.'

She is accused of punching him and throwing a cup of tea over him, apparently shouting: 'You've ruined my life'.

She allegedly threw office equipment around the office before turning on Mr McHugh, who served jail time in 2004 for fraud after setting up a company to help firms recover debts.

The source the Sun: 'She had been through her accounts and was raging. She went to his office to speak to him and was screaming and kicking off. She punched him in the face.'

Another source adds: 'She struck out at McHugh. It wasn't pretty.'

Katona, who accused husband Mark Croft of running through her millions earlier this year, is alleged to have blasted: 'You're the f****** reason I've got no money! It's not Mark, it's you!'

McHugh's colleague is believed to have called the police, who then took her away and held her in a police cell while she awaited questioning.

The police spokeswoman said yesterday: 'At approximately 3.50pm on Wednesday 26th August, Cheshire Police attended a premises on Hawthorne Business Park in Warrington, following a report of an assault.

'A 28-year-old woman from the Wilmslow area has been arrested on suspicion of assault, criminal damage and a public order offence.'

It has been a dramatic week for Katona.

The mother-of-four was officially cautioned by police this week after a video surfaced showing her apparently snorting cocaine.

She was fired from her £250,000-a-year job as the face of Iceland over the scandal.

And it has been claimed Katona's nose is dissolving as a result of years of cocaine binges.

The former Atomic Kitten singer now allegedly has a hole in her septum like former EasterEnders star Daniella Westbrook, whose cartilage was burned away through sustained use of the class-A drug.

Katona allegedly works her way through £250 of cocaine on some days, depending on her mood.
