A 77-year-old woman told police that she stabbed her husband in the neck Tuesday morning on the city’s South Side because he still resented her for cheating on him decades ago, according to a police report.
Mary Meyer said she stabbed her husband, 79-year-old Marvin Meyer, inside the couple’s mobile home in the 3500 block of Goliad Road because he maintained a grudge for her infidelity 30 years ago, the report said.
According to the report, Mary Meyer also alleged that her husband was trying to steal inheritance money from her. In response, she stabbed him about two times in the neck as he lay in bed about 2:30 a.m., the report said.
Marvin Meyer was taken to Brooke Army Medical Center, where he was listed in stable condition, the report said.
Mary Meyer — who suffered a black eye at the hands of her husband after the stabbing — was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. She remained jailed Tuesday in lieu of $25,000 bail, officials said.
