Farmer jailed 16 years for wife's murder
December 8, 2008, 4:36 pm

Source: Yahoo!

A NSW farmer who shot his wife and buried her with lime to deter wild pigs from disturbing the body has been jailed for at least 16 years for her murder.

Laurence Bede O'Connor told police he had had "a gutful" of Flordelizza O'Connor and shot her as she descended a ladder after repairing a leak on the roof of their property.

Acting Justice Timothy Studdert noted O'Connor resented the "expressed assertion" by his wife that she was "the boss" and told police "she used to yell and scream and screech".

The now 65-year-old admitted to the manslaughter of Flordelizza O'Connor, 47, on the basis of provocation in July last year at their property, called Quandalli, near Tooraweenah, in the state's central western slopes.

But in October, a NSW Supreme Court jury sitting at Dubbo found him guilty of the more serious charge of murder.

In sentencing him last Friday, the judge described the shooting as "callous" and "cowardly".

But he accepted O'Connor was remorseful and concluded he had suffered some loss of self control at the time of the murder.

Two months after the shooting, he confessed his crime and showed police where he had buried her body, in a relatively isolated location on the property.

O'Connor said he placed her body in the bucket scoop of a tractor and placed lime on her body when he buried it.

He told police his wife had been on the roof when she said she had taken his car keys, his wallet, his cheque and deposit books, and had burnt his tobacco.

He unsuccessfully searched for his keys and later told police he had had a "gutful" of his wife doing these things, which he claimed had been going on for years and getting worse
.

"There was a loaded .22 rifle kept on the verandah, placed there for shooting birds that raided the strawberries and this was the gun the offender used," the judge noted.

As she descended, he placed the gun against his wife's spine and fired without warning, firing a second shot at her temple when she fell on to the concrete and was moaning.

The judge said the marriage was happy at the outset but stresses developed and increased when their two children left home.

O'Connor, an alcoholic, had resented his wife's wish to participate in decisions about the property, most of which was leased out but which she wanted them to work themselves.

In setting a maximum sentence of 21 years, Justice Studdert said O'Connor shot his unsuspecting victim twice at close range with intent to kill.

The earliest date he will be eligible for parole is September 6, 2023.
If the sexes were reversed, then the the murderer would have been considered a victim of "Battered Women's Syndrome".

Re: Farmer jailed 16 years for wife's murder

One of the times my exe attacked me I was asleep. Woke up with banging and screaming and she had a hammer in her hand. She was mad at me about something and was nailing Christmas decorations into intricate plaster moldings, and the plaster (which I had repaired and told her that you cannot nail things into) had broken apart. I had told her not to nail anything into there as it would break the night before. Plaster is weak, like nailing into a dinner plate...it just won't work.

Anyway I get up and she is yelling and angry...I walk a few steps and she did not have the hammer anymore. Maybe that was one of the clunks I heard when I was trying to wake up. Next thing I know she is beating me with a high heel shoe while I shout stop and fall down a flight of stairs about 10 feet from my bed. My right elbow got hit about 15 times with the heel of her shoe which she was holding and swinging as a weapon. Defensive, covering my face, child 20 feet away. Unilateral.

If a man had done this to a woman there would be an arrest, jail time, restraining orders and the divorce would be "won" by the woman.

If a woman does this to a man and has a pattern of this type of abuse as in my case then the man gets no help, is told not to call the Police, ignored in Family Court and so forth.

That was just one of the assaults.

There have been numerous sleeping man murders by the wife where she gets off completely free and without charge althought the matters does get looked at. Then the dead man is denigrated as an abuser and there is no way to find out if that was true. Even if true, murder is not the solution. And it ignores the abuse the man likely suffered coming from his wife as that is "off limits" to discuss.

Murder is murder - and murder is wrong - no matter who, what, where or when. This man is no better than any female murderer.

What's sickening is the repeated legal failures.

A woman shoots her husband in the back as he sleeps, pulls the telephone cord out to stop him calling for any assistance, empties the bank accounts and flees to another state - and receives what... 60 some days wasn't it, for Mary Winkler? And all because she *claims* he asked her to wear kinky boots during sex.

Wife : "I dreamt they were auctioning off dicks. The big ones went for ten dollars and the thick ones went for twenty dollars."
Husband : "How about the ones like mine?"
Wife : "Those they gave away."
Husband : "I had a dream too...I dreamt they were auctioning off pussy. The pretty ones went for a thousand dollars, and the little tight ones went for two thousand."
Wife : "And how much for the ones like mine?"
Husband : "That's where they held the auction."

Stan, I promise I'm not having a go - but for future reference, you can use tags to incorporate images into the post.

works wonders!

Or, you can click the image button on the toolbar, this one:
and then type the address (or paste is easier).

End result, as below:

Yes, kinky boots is why she murdered her husband. Kim & Denise Noe have some good posts on this matter.

Dear Stan

albeit what you have told us about your ex - a malicious screeching harridan - she operating by the two tier system of "justice" was rewarded for her psychopathic manoeuvres and you were delegated the adverse outcome typical of millions of other men living under the feminit tyranny

with the three stooges about to be inaugurated into the Executive in the USA this dystopia for men it seems is going to decompensate further

Marx from where I am presently posting, the img thing does not work. I just see an empty square.

If you look over past posts from a few weeks back and earlier you'll note that I use the tagging. If you look over the edit history I think for that kinky boot image you'll see that I DID try tagging. But it was then editted to just the link since I could not see the image when I did so.

I have my own pbase site with many thousands of pictures I have taken on it. So I am quite familiar with tagging. One of my hobbies is photography. I've taken about 20,000 images this year and do event photography for many more images.

Okies, that sounds like an ISP problem. However, using the manual version of does work. The only exceptions are that some sites block hot-linking (you may see prohibited etc. images instead of the real one).
