Drunken women stabbed boy, 13, in row over Xbox

A DRUNKEN woman stabbed a 13-year-old boy after he refused
to stop playing his Xbox.

Isobel Mackenzie, 55, lunged at the teenager and struck him in
the abdomen with a kitchen knife after they rowed about him
using the games console and a computer.

A jury at Inverness Sheriff Court found her guilty after a
three-day trial. Mackenzie had earlier admitted wilfully neglecting
the boy by being in a drunken state while he was in her care
last December.

Yesterday, she escaped a jail sentence and was ordered by Sheriff Margaret Neilson to do 300 hours' community service. She had denied assaulting the boy to the danger of his life and claimed that he had inflicted the wound himself in an attempt to get her into trouble.

But the boy told the jury: "She hit me on the back of the head. I stood up and pushed her back. We started fighting.

She pushed me back down on the chair. I saw she had a knife.

"I got up and tried to push her back, and then got stabbed."

He told the court it was deliberate, adding: "She lunged at me."

Sheriff Neilson said the crime against a child in her care was "very serious".

Community service? Female sentencing discount strikes again.

Just look at the case - she's failed to plead guilty and tell the truth at any opportunity (nevermind at an early stage) and even came up with the false allegation of it being a self-inflicted wound. Community service might be appropriate for beig so dishonest, but knife crimes and child neglect deserve jail time, and plenty of it!

Young men get huge sentences just for possessing a knife for self defence purposes in many cases, yet she's way ahead of them and actually used it to commit violence against a child in her own care.

I must say, Sheriff Neilson's idea of a fit punishment for a "very serious" (as the sheriff puts it) crime is quite different from mine. I dont think 300 hours of prison would be enough of a punishment, let alone the 300 hours of community service the attacker actually got! She lied her best to avoid any responsibility for her acts, which shows how little remorse she has. On the other hand, finding the easiest man to blame (the boy she stabbed in this case) might be part of the feminist way of remorse. I wouldn't declare her a feminist without further evidence, but she sure acts like one...

Community service is what people who commit vandalism or so get... not people who stab teenagers.

Yes, yes, yes - but she is a female, and thus it's appropriate to only give her a slap on the wrist - in fact, let's be real here guys... Community Service is far, far too harsh for this poor woman... she needs 'help', not punishment... right?
