Arizona Woman Drowned Her Newborn to Hide Pregnancy From Husband

A Scottsdale mother accused of holding her newborn under water until the girl stopped moving says she didn't know she was pregnant until just before giving birth, according to court records.

A police report filed in Maricopa County Superior Court shows that Cynthia Joyce Tureman, 28, told Scottsdale police she was trying to hide her pregnancy from her husband, who had a vasectomy five years ago.

The report says Tureman wrapped the baby in a plastic bag, stowed it in the trunk of her car and took her other three children with her to drop the newborn in a trash bin at a gas station.

Tureman told Scottsdale police that she gave birth in a bathtub filled with a foot of water in the master bathroom of her Scottsdale home, according to the report.

Tureman was booked Friday on suspicion of first-degree murder. She was jailed without bond in a Maricopa County detention center.

She will go free. She can claim he abused her and drove her to cheat.

This women had to somewhat fat in order to hide the pregnancy from hubby unless he was in Iraq.

And feminists say women have it bad. But here we have a prime example of a woman putting her own desires above the needs of her husband and children. I feel very sorry for her kids not only did they have a sibling murdered by their mother and now have to worry they may be next if they become inconvenient to her but now they know that if she did there would be no justice for them. And the husband has to worry for his life and for those of his children. So it boils down to she is the only one who is free at the moment. It's just sickening and heartbreaking at the same time.

I have heard it all now....there is NO WAY a woman cannot know she is pregnant, especially past a certain point when you definitely feel the baby MOVE. Plus, periods stop, duhh!

So she cheated, then she decided that she was a complete fucking moron by taking no action till the baby was born. Then she decided that it was easier to murder a helpless baby than to murder her husband, or *gasp!* take responsibility for her selfish actions!

I don't really think that women are more capable of evil than men; humans are capable of the most awful and selfish acts.

But it sickens me to think that we might be stupid enough to turn a blind eye to this monster.

Agreed. I can believe that a woman who is obese, has irregular cycles, and is exceedingly stupid could fail to notice a pregnancy until the quickening. After that it's complete bullshit. They should give her an extra slap for lying.

Even if a woman is very obese, I won't cut her any slack. I was well over 100 pounds heavier than I am now when I had my children, and I had irregular periods too, thanks to my polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS, which also causes the high testosterone). Yet I knew I was pregnant each time! Maybe its just that I've always been very much in tune with my body's signals, but I REALLY think you have to be downright retarded to not know when you are pregnant, especially after the 4th month.

I cant usually tell if a woman is pregnant or not before they know themselves..

They dont run off particularly fast, they get this stupid look in their faces. their pupils dilate with a mixture of fear and pleasure, then they go all immobile and helpless, 15 mins later, they are pregnant..

Nah, go easy on the splitarsed moron.. Lets face it, a few months earlier and it would have been a legal medical procedure..

No way. There is a difference between having someone scrape out your insides, and killing a newborn in your hands. I hope her cell mates find out what she did...
