The Special Investigations Unit is probing a shooting involving Police in downtown Kenora Monday night.
OPP were responding to a report of a domestic dispute in the First Street area.
OPP say the officer arrived and was confronted by a woman wielding a knife, resulting in shots being fired.
The SIU says the 39-year-old was airlifted to Winnipeg Hospital where she remains in stable condition.
The woman's name has not been released but Bruce Landon identified her to the Winnipeg Free Press as Helen Proulx , his ex-wife.
A total of 7-SIU investigators are involved in the probe.
Spokesperson Monica Hudon says the investigation could take a month or more, depending on how much forensic evidence they have to process.
