    Beaten woman driven to kill

That's the wording of a news headline in today's Eastern Daily Press. A forty-year-old woman with a drink problem and history of relationships with violent men stabbed her 47yo partner to death when he taunted her over her drinking and her children. The usual "years of abuse" defence...

I see the paper fully signed up to the woman's story - it's not like they could have used a headline such as:

"I Was Beaten" - Knife killer

or anything else that implied it was anything other than cold, proven fact that the years of abuse she suffered forced her to kill her partner.

Now it's to be decided what kind of a danger she presents to the public. I wonder what kind of danger she presents to any other man her toxic co-dependency might lead her to hook up with in the future?

alcohol poisoning can do wonders for alcohol addicition... let her chose her own poison

Out of the gloom a voice spake unto me. 'Smile and be happy, Things could get worse."
So I smiled and was happy, and behold... Things did get worse.

Re: Beaten woman driven to kill

I happened to see the local fish and chip wrapper again this lunchtime just in time to catch the sentencing news. A pound out of the till and a slap on the wrist - oh, sorry, a "community rehabilitation order"; that means they throw in a stern look and say "Don't do it again!".

She had nothing to say, but her brother says she wants to rebuild her life and get off the drink (the paper informs us that she is a "victim" of alcohol abuse - I wonder what brute of a man held her down and forced her to drink too much day in and day out?). Too bad the poor ****er she knifed through the heart can't rebuild his life, but we can't have everything.

Still, it's all one. Had she gone to the pokey she'd have been surrounded by adoring fellow-prisoners (whereas I understand that men who kill women have to watch their backs 24/7 in the hoosegow) and she'd have been out in maybe six months.

All that was needed was for a Justice For Women reptile to show up and say that the verdict was all very well but it was a shame more women didn't automatically get let off a jail sentence if they admitted manslaughter. Oh wait - they had one of those too.

Guys, don't take a chronic drunkard with a string of violent relationships behind her under your wing. It'll be your fault if she murders you.
