Machete Attack - Not In The News

I'm visiting family down in North Carolina so I have been out of Connecticut for awhile. Trying to recharge emotionally after nine years of effort to see my son, female on male DV, child abuse and so forth.

Anyway while filling gas I chatted with a local man and divorce and how men are treated came up. I noted that it is often very unfair to the man interm of money, emotions, abuse, child access. And the guy agreed so we pulled off to the side and chatted for 1/2 hour.

He had been living with his GF for about two years in his apartment. They had an argument since he was losing trust in her. He spent the weekend in his Mother's house nearby to get some space. She had no easy free place to go to so he took that option. She could stay with a friend but then discussions of their relationship stress would come out.

Late that weekend he went over to HIS apartment. And found her in bed with a guy from the apartment complex. They argue and he tells her she has to leave as soon as possible she cannot live there and have new boyfriends over etc. He can give her some time for that. The guy scooted immediately.

Then his girlfriend comes up behind him with a machete and gets it up to his neck and verbally threatens to kill him. When she repositions herself he spins around grabbing her arms at the wrists and then pushes her down. As he jumps away she says now you are gonna get it and slices his leg with the machete at the side of the calf muscle area.

He runs out and she chases him, he gets away and she is chasing him with the machete screaming that she will do what she wants.

He calls the police and they arrive quickly. Luckily for him she is loud and abusive, is holding the machete and is swearing at the guy. She gets arrested. He gets a temporary restraining order tied to the upcoming court date.

Of course this did not make the news. After all it is not domestic violence.

At the first time in court after the woman spent a mandatory 48 hours, he is called aside by the marshalls and served with multiple counts of attacking her. Her story is that she was being beat up by the man (no bruises or cuts on her though).

Now he is charged with assault and battery and other things.

His lawyer says that most likely the case will wind up dropped on both sides.

I saw the neck and calf injuries which are about 3-5 inches long respectively.

I gave him all sorts of advice and he plans to email or call me. If I can I will attend that court session to see how it goes down.

I liked how the woman was arrested and charged here. But I do not like that this is being handled in family court rather than criminal court. I don't like how all the woman has to do is say she was scared and it was the bad guy's fault and now he has more charges on him than she does.
